After a year away from the podcast, Dr. Sam Collins returns with a deeply personal new chapter — one she describes as part podcast, part “pod-course”. In this opening, Sam reflects on her “Year of Freedom”, twenty-five years of Aspire and the questions that have been calling her into a more honest, courageous and purposeful way of leading. This new series is for women, and for anyone ready to stop waiting for permission, trust their voice, and step more fully into the contribution they are here to make. Shorter, more intimate and more direct than before, these episodes will explore leadership, change, purpose, health, life, success, failure, the stories that keep us stuck, and what it really takes to become the person we are capable of becoming.

Hello and welcome. It's been a while. If you've listened to this podcast before, you'll know I've taken a break over the last year, not because I ran out of things to say. If anything, the opposite happened. I've been doing a lot of thinking, a lot of questioning and a lot of letting go. This year has been different for me and I've named it my year of freedom. After 25 years of Aspire, I found myself reflecting now on what really matters, not what I should be doing, not what people expect me to do, but what actually matters at this age and stage of my life and career.
And I've realised that many of the conversations I'm having with clients, friends, colleagues, keep coming back to the same thing.
We know that there's something we want to do, a conversation we need to have, a change we want to make, a difference we want to see in the world, an idea that we really want to bring to life, a voice we want to express, a contribution we want to make, yet for some reason we keep putting it off. We wait until we feel more confident more certain more prepared more ready Everything is perfect.
The plan is in place. It's the ideal time But the problem is that that moment rarely arrives So I've decided this podcast is going to be a little bit different. In fact this new chapter
see it as more of a pod course than a traditional podcast. A series of short, honest, powerful conversations that you can listen to in your own time. On the way to work, train, bus, car, plane, in between incredibly boring meetings, before you go to sleep. First thing when you wake up in the morning for a bit of a jolt and inspiration, maybe. but designed so that it really moves you. The idea is to challenge you, to help you and me think differently and act differently and stop abandoning the part of you that already knows what comes next.
This podcast is for women. Not because I'm anti-men, I'm not. Well, not most of them.
This isn't about replacing one group of leaders with another. It's about recognising that the world has only experienced a fraction of what is possible when women lead fully, visibly, and most importantly, unapologetically. The qualities that this planet needs right now. Courage, collaboration, empathy, honesty, intuition. creativity, community, resilience, and long-term sustainability thinking are qualities that women have had to develop deeply in order to survive, sometimes quietly and often in the margins while carrying far more than people ever see.
I don't want women to become more like men in order to succeed. I want women to become more fully themselves because when we step forward, we don't just change our own lives. We're not just in it for ourselves. We change families, organizations, communities, and generations to come. This pod course is for women who get that. Women who
are perhaps already successful in some ways, but know that success in the traditional sense alone is no longer enough. Women who are intelligent, capable and experienced, but incredibly tired and stressed about holding back. Women who have achieved a lot, but still feel there is something more in them, more truthful, more courageous. and more alive wanting to come out. Women who are done with shrinking, adapting, overthinking, and done, so done, with waiting for permission.
Women who want to lead change in their lives, their work, their families, and even the world at large. Women Who may look composed on the outside, but inside are asking, is this it? Really? What am I really here to do now? What would be possible if I stopped fitting in and started leading from who I actually am? More joy, more health, more balance, more integrity to who we really are. The episodes will be shorter, more personal, more honest, no guests.
me sharing what's on my mind, what I'm learning, what I'm questioning, and what I think might help you move forward too. Because I don't believe the world needs more women waiting. I believe it needs more women stepping forward, more women trusting themselves, more women creating change rather than talking about it. This isn't skills development and learning how to be something that you're not. This is about learning how to truly step into who you are.
More women willing to back themselves and other women even when we don't have all the answers. We are living in extraordinary times.
The world does not need more perfection, more information. It needs more courage. It needs more imagination, quite frankly, and it needs more people who are prepared to go first. That's what we'll be exploring here. Pioneership, leadership, change, purpose, health, life, success, failure, joy. the stories we tell ourselves, the stories that keep us stuck, the rules we inherited, the rules we must now break, and most importantly, what is it going to take to become the person you are truly capable of becoming?
My hope, my hope is that these conversations leave you thinking differently and you enjoy them. You leave feeling braver and you take action.
whatever that action is for you. Because there comes a point in life when the cost of staying where you are becomes greater than the fear of moving forward. Perhaps you are at that point now. Perhaps that's why you're here. Either way, I'm so glad you joined me. Thank you. Let's begin.
