This session starts to move you from vision into action. It focuses on the transition from imagining what is possible to beginning to live it. Drawing on over two decades of work in leadership and change, alongside dedicated research and a series of focus groups with leaders across sectors on pioneering change in life, work and world, I will share the successful thinking and toolkits behind those who go first.
Gain the following:
• A deeper understanding of how your “Impossible Dream” actually forms in real life, not through perfect thinking, but through action, reflection and movement.
• Practical ways to recognise and quieten the internal voice of limitation that keeps you waiting, doubting or playing small.
• The confidence to take your own ideas seriously and begin leading in your ambitions and goals, even without full clarity or certainty.
• A renewed sense of possibility about what you could create, contribute or change in your career, your workplace or the wider world.
• Connection to a community of like minded women and male allies who will support, encourage and challenge you to step forward rather than hold back.

Hello, everyone, and welcome to the Pioneer’s Path from Impossible Dream to Real Change today. Please let me know that you’re here. Please say hi in the chat so that you can see and hear me okay. And welcome to the webinar. Make sure that seat belts on, and you’ve got your notepad, and you’ve got your coffee, or whatever else that you need so that you can make the most of the next hour. The fact that you’ve committed your time today, that’s to make sure it’s valuable, and that you leave, I’m wishing more inspired, more hopeful, more full of possibility for your impossible dreams, okay? So, for those of you that are new to me, Dr. Sam Collins, and to Aspire, welcome, and thank you for trusting me with your time today And for those of you that have been with me before or for many years, then welcome back and thank you for being here. Where are you today? Let me know where you are around the world. I’m here in my home in California, so it’s early in the morning, and I’m full of beans for you. I know that there’s lots of heat waves going on around the world, so make sure that you’re nice and cool and you’ve got everything that you need for this time So, for those of you that attended or have been attending my Webinars this year, this year is my year of freedom. So it’s the first time in 25 years that I have not been doing a scheduled set of events, mostly in person in the UK And we’ve been doing this in a very iterative way instead by really understanding the topics that are important and powerful for me this year and also for you, that you have found useful. So last time We focused on the creation and the thinking of your impossible dreams and what those impossible dreams are. And if you weren’t there last time, don’t worry, you can, you know, catch up and really think about how you today take some of the things that you would really love to do, love to be, love to create, love to have, and we move them from an idea or a dream or a concept in your mind into some real change, okay?
And to think about what’s involved in order to do that I want to bring my experience of working with women around the world in the achievement of their impossible dreams. I want to bring a lot of the research that I’ve done on being a pioneer. What does that mean and being the first Maybe the first thing your family, or the first in your organization, or the first in your team being the first to do something. What does that mean? How do you do that? I just want to bring that combination of experience and also research. But I think more importantly, to bring to you a vision for the future about what it is that is possible when you allow yourself and give yourself permission to really be the potential that you were born to be. All right, what I mean by that is not only in your own, you know personal goals and ambitions that you might have for yourself in terms of your career or your health or your life, but also in a joint ambition that we have for the world to be fairer, more just, more equitable place. All right, and to really see yourself as a change agent in that rise in justice and equity, diversity, inclusion that the world so desperately needs right now. We live in extraordinary times And I believe that the potential for women, we are right on the cusp of what is possible for us, and the world has only just seen a small fraction, or you have only seen a small fraction of what is actually possible for you. Whatever age or stage that you’re at You know, whether you’re at the start of your career, mid-career, or in the later stages of your career and life, and saying, what now? Maybe, maybe, just maybe, you’re just getting started So I want to talk about not just what gets in the way. I think there’s a lot out there about the barriers for women and the obstacles for women, and how do we negotiate all of that. I want to talk more about why we wait, why we wait, why we delay, why we procrastinate And also to get very, I would say, in a spirit today that’s going to serve you the best so that you can have not only a really good mindset and psychology But have that combination of even mind, body, health, mind health, body health, but even spirit health, meaning that you are more connected into perhaps even a bigger purpose or reason for doing the things that you are going to do, because that’s just such a huge passion fuel to achieve those things, all right? So What are your impossible dreams right now? Please post on the chat if you would like to do that, even if you wouldn’t like to do that, maybe just do it anyway, like, you know, be bold, be brave, be fearless, post some of your dreams. What is it that you are looking to achieve that’s potentially From a integrated life perspective from a career or workplace ideal, maybe you’re in a job, you just can’t stand anymore, or you’re just… you’ve had enough of the way that organizations are run, and you want to see things be different or better for the people that work within them Maybe you’re someone who is already out there in the community doing work that makes a difference to all sorts of people within that community or the wider world. Or perhaps you aspire to do that. Perhaps, you know, you’ve been in a job for the majority of your career, that has been very focused on quarterly results and profits, and you’ve been sort of laying low, trying to do the best you can in that career, and now perhaps it’s time to unleash yourself, all right? To unleash yourself, so you don’t have to protect your energy so much. Perhaps you don’t have to edit what it is that you say anymore. Could you imagine if you were just able to completely say whatever it is that you needed to say without worrying about
Whether you’re going to offend people, or whether people are going to get upset with you, or whether you have to politically think about all of the negotiating pieces before you even open your mouth. So we’re looking for impossible dreams that can be very, I would say standard in terms of a more tangible goal that you’re working on, or it can be and or it can be for yourself In this impossible dream of truly being yourself, expressing yourself, and busting some of those myths that you can’t, you know, we can’t have it all, oh, you know, you can’t have a great home life and you can’t have a great work life at the same time. I think this is just all complete bullshit and needs to absolutely change That we can have it all right. Let’s really talk about what having it all means for you. And I think that it would be very unjust to consider that it’s not okay for women or for anyone to have a healthy, balanced existence alongside a career that fulfills us, and we feel accomplished and valued And also that we have a sense of purpose and contribution to the wider world and the legacies that we create to future generations. That all three of those, the three-legged stool, if you like, are absolutely what we aspire to have and that We give ourselves permission that those three elements are absolutely what we’re looking for here, even though that may feel impossible and not something that you can do. Where are you stuck? Where are you feeling that you are tired? Where are you feeling annoyed, bored, sad, fearful, and to take those places and to take those emotions and channel them into something really, really constructive. So I am completely cognizant that many of us feel those emotions. In fact, if you feel one of those emotions, please state it on the chat now. What’s the emotion that you feel regularly that perhaps you would think that stands in your way? Is it anger? Is it fear? Is it boredom? Is it annoyance? What is it? Or, you know, you’re absolutely allowed to have a combo, too, if you want to put them down. I regularly feel annoyed, fearful, irritated, sad, anxious all in the same bloody moment, all right? So Yes, I think this one time to think, like this feeling of what’s that feeling there, feeling constrained, feeling a lack of creativity, feeling overwhelmed perhaps. All right. And so, you know, most of us are just trying to get through the day what I want to think about today is how to take some of these and really challenge them and channel them into something really good. So, I’m not talking about this sort of what I would call a lower consciousness level Blaming other people, complaining, blaming, complaining, gossiping, whining, all of this, which, you know, I’m going to say we all do. But actually to take this into a higher level and say, all right, I have these feelings and emotions How am I going to channel them into something really great? And what are the structures and systems that need to be around me so that I can create that? All right? And, you know, over the years, many, many women have chosen a pioneering path of creating their own structure and system by starting their own organization, starting their own business, starting their own social enterprise, starting their own charity, or doing that with like-minded people, or creating that being a change maker within even a very large corporate structure and saying, okay, how do I create this hub of innovation, of creativity within You know, this big Goliath of a giant, and how do I do that whilst I’m in it? Or how do I do it outside of it? So there are many different ways to consider when we start thinking about the systems and structures But the systems and structures are also absolutely within our own minds and heads. And the things that we have rightly so conditioned ourselves to think and to do, and where we
Where do you limit yourself? You know, where do you limit yourself and say, well, I have to do it like that, or I should do it like this, because… and it becomes a very, very, what I would call, plausible excuse And if there is one thing that is holding us back from Impossible Dream to real change, it’s the plausible excuse And the pioneer will look at the plausible excuse. What’s the plausible excuse? Which is, I don’t have enough time. I don’t know the right people. I’m not brave enough. I don’t have the energy. I don’t have the money. All of these are very plausible excuses. There’s lots of evidence that you can find, I can find that will back up that absolutely this is the case. All right. And so you’d probably also have other people around you because misery attracts company where you say like, I don’t have the time. I know I don’t have the time either. I don’t know the right people. I don’t know the right people either. Oh, I don’t have the energy. I don’t have the energy either. And it’s not that it’s not true. I don’t want to make anybody too upset here. It’s all true But it needs to be looked at with some level of rigor and to ask yourself, first of all, what are your most Common plausible excuses. Now, not everyone’s willing to look at this, and some people might like jump off now and say, I just don’t have the energy for this Sam, and you know forget about it, come back in a year. But the couple of hundred of you that are on this webinar now Take a moment And ask yourself, what are my most plausible excuses for not moving forward or not moving forward at the pace I would like, or the reasons that I am Very understandably stuck. If you would like, please post on the chat what your applause for excuses are, because I just think it makes everyone feel a little bit better that, okay, we’re not the only one. So when you take a look at that and say, okay I don’t have the time. I’ll do it later. I don’t have the energy. I don’t have the headspace. I don’t have the confidence. The most natural Strategy or thinking there would be, okay, how do I create the time or how do I create the confidence or how do I create the headspace? Now, what I would suggest to you is, although that a pretty good strategy. It’s not the greatest strategy, because it sort of just leads you into a bigger survival mode of, all right, I have to delegate some things, alright, I have to start saying no, and okay, I need to go on a confidence course, all this crap, right? So, I think we’re just going to put that question aside right now and say, all right, how am I really going to take this plausible excuse get underneath the absolute root of it, dig it out like it’s the weed that it is, dangle that thing in front of me and burn it, and get it out of the way. What’s the root, really, of the plausbo excuse And what is it if you’re being a pioneer about it, the pioneer will have a very compelling, not always clear But a very compelling vision or ideal of what they are fighting for and what they want to achieve and why they want to achieve it. So if you have something that is compelling when you say, okay, I saw someone in the in the chat before said, I’m starting a tech startup But at the vision for this tech startup, for example, is I’m changing the world in my way. I’m creating ways for people to be able to access A, B and C, and that’s just going to make me feel so amazing about who I am, and I’m going to be able to financially provide for my family and I’m going to be able to make this big difference If the Pioneer has a bit reluctant to use the word vision because people don’t always like the word vision, but it’s sort of this compelling idea, this path. Now, what happens is when you have
clear a path, all right? And you can start to envision it. You can start to feel it and see it. And I’m not talking about a SMART goal here, I’m not talking about something really clear and civic and measurable and actionable and realistic and time. I’m not talking about that. That comes later. I’m talking about this compelling path forward. This is what the Pioneer do, all right even when And you would expect with a pioneer being the first to do something that people around you, even the most well-meaning people, you know who I’m talking about, they’re the parents, they’re the family members, they’re the friends, they’re the boss, they’re the colleagues, they’re the child, whoever it is, who say, oh, you know, that’s… you’re not going to be able to do that, that’s going to be really, really difficult The pioneer will feel so compelled on the path that they’re heading on that it doesn’t matter. It doesn’t matter what people think. Now, they’ll they’ll still take these, you know, they’ll filter it, and you know it could be some really well good advice in there But they’re not going to use it as an excuse to deter them. So when you have this more compelling future, it pulls you, you feel pulled and compelled. And when you feel pulled and compelled What happens You make the time. You feel more confident You’re doing things because there is an enjoyment and a positivity to it. So it’s very rare that we’re compelled when we’re miserable. Oh, I’m really miserable and I don’t have the energy, so that’s not very compelling. But if you’re compelled Because it’s something that you are really interested in, excited about, and you feel this contribution, then you’re going to do it. And what’s going to happen as well, and this might be an experiment for some of you, and some of you know exactly what I’m talking about, is you get compelled to do things that before you wouldn’t have done. You would have felt them to be too much, too boring, too exposing, too challenging. You’ll feel compelled to do them Because you’re not doing them for other people’s approval. You’re doing them because this is the future vision you’re trying to create, and you’re having some fun and enjoyment along the way, all right? Does this make sense? Tell me what you’re hearing here that is resonating with you, like, resonating, meaning like, yeah, I like that, or you, you know, you don’t like it, but you sort of know what I’m talking about has some logical sense to it, and maybe you need to test it out in a real life strategic scenario. All right. So Why do we wait when we have these impossible dreams, why do we procrastinate Why do we believe that everything needs to be perfect Because we think that there needs to be some amazing time where all the stars align and the moon aligns and everything aligns where we’re perfectly ready. And could you imagine if you started along the road or took an acceleration along the road without being ready, without being confident, without having all the time Because if we wait Until you have the time, until you have the confidence, until you have the money, until you know the right people, then we’re going to be waiting forever. And that would be a shame. That would be a shame, wouldn’t it? So With regards to having this combination, there are 3 elements of a combination which make up for this success formula for you to move from impossible dream to real change One is Your mind, one is your body and one is your spirit. I talk about the three things. You’ve heard this, mind, body, spirit So, from a body perspective, we talked earlier in the year, and we did a webinar on health, and what does that mean that physical, emotional health? If you didn’t do that webinar, go to the Aspire Company’s webpage, go into the products page, you can download it for free, you can download all of the past webinars for free, so you can really get into what that means from a body health perspective. I think there is nothing more important, and I have learned this year about all of the physical aspects of my body that were holding me back
where I felt like I was too heavy, or I didn’t like the way I looked, or I wasn’t eating properly, and I never really got it together as to what was holding me back around that. And when I looked at that from a psychology perspective, and I started to put it as my number one priority So I had to feel so much better, have the energy, have more time, and lose weight because that’s something I was important to me. All right, so body health, one aspect that we have to carry as a priority and not, you know, further down the list. Secondly, when it comes to the mindset and psychology, there’s two things I want to talk about, and then we’ll move on to that spirit side. I want to talk about inner critic and inner champion, inner critic and inner champion Now, in my one-to-one coaching sessions recently I have been working on these two concepts and I really, really love them. In a critic, you may have heard of this before. It’s not that new, but within our mind, and it can be a really dominant ruler and it’s definitely the plausible excuse girl. We have this recurring Moaning, complaining, critical voice. This is call it a voice for now, okay? Now, if you can acknowledge that that part of you is a part of you, and we’re not judging right now, we’re just saying that she’s someone who is designed by you to keep you really safe. So I want you to think about for a second, who is your inner critic, and I would like you to give her a name, all right? Give her a name. So, for example, one of my clients, her inner critic is called Gladys. Gladys is not my client’s actual name. It’s a name she’s given to her inner critic And Gladys is someone who’s always trying to edit what she says during meetings. Okay, now my inner critic, you know, so my name is Sam Collins, but my inner critic, her name is Samantha. All right, Samantha. Now, Samantha is a very, very you know, she’s pretty bunged up, and she gets very concerned about what other people will think, and she wants people to like her, and she’s She’s quite serious, and she really spends a lot of time planning and thinking and analyzing. And she’s very good at disaster scenarios, so she’s like, oh my God, what if this happens and what if that happens? And it could be a work related thing or it could be a home related thing or a kids related thing, but she’s like the queen of disaster scenarios, okay? So, I’m very conscious of her, and naming her helps, because it helps me to kind of go, okay, that’s a Samantha thought. Is that something I really want to listen to right now? All right, so if you were to name your inner critic Can you think of a name for her? If you can, please post on the chat the names for your inner critics and maybe what they recurringly say to you because you may have heard me say this before, but we have over 90,000 Thoughts per day so you know Samantha’s got quite a lot of Air time And a lot of the time, not even really I sort of think it’s just me. I don’t think it’s sort of a part of me. So this is a great technique to be able to recognize and go, okay, that’s that part of me. And to know that Samantha is, you know, she’s got a lot of good intentions And she’s kept me safe for a number of years, and she enabled me to earn money, and she enabled me to be liked, and she enabled me to do a number of things. Doubtful Doris, I love that seeing on the chat some of the names that you’re coming up with. So On the other hand, though, not what not many people talk about is this… there is another Persona, if you like, at the table. All right, so if you’re sitting at the table and it’s almost like you’re bored of your internal board of directors around you and you’ve got Samantha on one side and you know whoever else is there, there is And I would like you to imagine it for a moment. There’s someone else at the door. The door’s opening, someone else is coming in, sort of like
She comes in and either she sits down or she’s standing there or whatever, and you’ve got this other voice, which is the voice I’m going to call her your inner fighter, your inner champion, your inner rebel, you know, whatever is… works for you, okay? Now. She is a different and perhaps even the polar opposite to the inner critic. All right. She might be like, even like a little bit, you know, a bit really out there for you, but she’s also got a, you know, opposing point of view and an opposing voice. All right. So let’ Try for a moment to imagine this whole scenario. It might seem a little mad to you, but let’s just go with it because this mindset part is really, really critical for you moving from impossible dream to real change. All right, no matter how many actions you put into place and all the things you want to do, if you do not have a voice that compels you to fight the fight, to be rebellious, to be fearless, to do what other people are not doing, to keep going, to have fun, to focus on your health, to do the right thing, to stand up for the values that are important to you. If that voice is not dominant enough You will not succeed. All right. So this is almost like old-fashioned radio and changing the you know you remember these, the old-fashioned radios and people that are younger would not know what I’m talking about, but we have the radios and they had dials on them, and you would you would turn it around, and you would get into a different station, all right? So This is tuning in to a completely different station and a completely different voice. Now, what is it that She has to say. Okay. And what does she look like? Now, let me give you an example if it’s helpful. So my inner champion, which I only came up with two days ago, all right, Samantha’s been with me for many years, but Valkyrie Valkyrie. Valkyrie. I actually even get shivers as I’m talking about Valkyrie. Valkyrie’s only been with me for a couple of days. So Valkyrie is full on superhero Red hair coming out here, full on armour, wings in the back and like just absolutely the image of this like amazing superhero. Now What does she have to say? She’s she’s very… she’s almost like she’s on top of a mountain, and she’s viewing everything. It’s like she’s viewing all the armies, and she’s viewing, and she’s got this much bigger picture, strategic position. Okay, so she She takes me out of the weeds and out of the crap, and she takes me into this much bigger position. All right? And she helps me to think, even if I don’t have, you know, a day of creative thinking time, even in 30 seconds or a minute, she helps me to think much bigger picture, all right? And she is truly an utterly in service of others. All right. But she so looks after herself that she can be so in service of others because she’s not doing it at the expense of herself, all right? So it’s less about, you know, advice and things that she’s saying, although that’s really helpful. It’s more her being and who she is, and then the insights that come from that perspective. All right. So Who is your In a champion, what’s her voice? What’s her voice? Could you name her? I mean, Valkyrie comes from Nordic traditions and she was a warrior, and I think she was the one that chose the warriors that were going to die Yeah, right. Okay, so maybe there’s something in there for me. So this part of you, I want to really Command that you and encourage you very strongly that you use her throughout your day. So what could that look like? So, for example. I have trained myself and it has taken a long time, but I have trained myself to In the mornings, do a short what I call med viz, little meditation, little visualization, 5, 10 minutes minimum, sometimes a little bit longer before I open my computer and get into my day, which is really challenging for me because
I’m in the US, by the time I get up, half my clients in Europe have had their day. You know, I want to get into it. So I’ve had to make myself do that. And when I do that, and I quieten my mind for a little bit, and then I ask myself, what is it I need to know today Valkyrie, what’s important, and I get these insights about the day, all right? So that’s one technique that you could use. Even going using something like AI. So the other day I was scripting a podcast. I’m going to be doing, and I was working with AI and I going through it, and I was asking some questions, and you know I worked through it, and I had this, you know, we came up with this script together And then I said, Okay, copilot. I was using Copilot. I said, Okay, can you review this script from the perspective of my inner critic, Samantha? So it did, and it kind of made it all like a little safer and a little bit more palatable for people and these kind of things. I said, Okay, now, could you review this script from the perspective of Valkyrie. All right, so it redid it, and it came up with all this really interesting, much bolder script. And I thought, oh, my God, like, look at these different perspectives. I would have spent the same time writing this thing. One is a Samantha script One is the SAM script and one is the Valkyrie. Okay, all right, let me look at this and figure out what is it I really want to say. So these are two techniques that you could use even if you get stuck, maybe you’re looking at your day and anyone have back to back meetings and you look at these meetings and you Okay, what is it that Lois Lane would do? What is it that Astrid would do? What is it that Carly would do in this situation? And that’s just kind of like an instant one And you’ll get the answer, or you can write it down, and then, you know, you have to follow through on it, all right? So There are a couple of tools there to take your inner champion and bring her into the real reality of the world. All right, now Let’s bring these things together. If you can recall for me the plausible excuse that you came up with earlier. All right, if you weren’t there, if you joined late, I was asking you, what is the excuse, the very valid excuse that you have that is holding up, delaying, not making as fun, or not making happen at all the impossible dreams that you have. And you said things to me like, what, I don’t have the time, I don’t have the creative space Or whatever it was else you said. Now, if we take that And we also take your inner champion Persona that we’ve just come up with for you. Yeah. What is it that your inner champion Has to say about this excuse. And What is their Try and just a moment to tune into it for a little bit. Maybe close your eyes if that’s easier. All right. And ask what’s the advice That they have. What’s the advice that they have? All right. So what did you get? What did you get? Maybe put it down Where do you need to trust yourself more? Where do you need to really step into that newer part of you, even if you take baby steps To do it. All right And, of course, I say of course, but it’s very important if you can, or to make it happen that you spend time with other pioneering people, even though you might not call yourself a pioneer, that you’re spending time with other people who, when you say, I can do this now, I’ve got this Just fucking do it. Thank you, Alison. That other people are also, yes, encouraging you, saying that you’ve got it and are bringing you up. It’s very important to spend time with people who bring you up, who don’t drag you down, even because what’s happening is you start to buy into their very plausible excuses, okay? So, spending time with other pioneering people is really, really key. Okay, so
There is a bit of a myth out there That We go we dream the dream and then Make sure there’s the perfect, you know, when we get all the things in line to take action. We create the plan, the PowerPoint with the money, the funding, the people, and you know and then we take the action and then It all works out and it’s all perfect. And then, you know, we’re on a panel somewhere, writing a book, and everyone’s like, oh, it was… it was, you know, you just need to dream, you just need to dream and never give up, and it’s all gonna be fine. Well, no, that’s not the reality, is it In fact, it would be amazing to really understand what it takes for people in between dreaming that dream and making that a reality. People talk about it in a very kind of glib, glossy way, but actually in between there The biggest factor that I see I’ve experienced myself and I see in the people that have achieved the things they want to achieve and then they move to something else and, you know, they’re dreaming multiple dreams at the same time and they’re moving into these different phases of their life, work and world is that they constantly and never-endingly fail. They constantly and never endingly fail. They can be small failures, they could be giant failures, but they are failing. And one of the things that holds so many people back is this fear of failure, which is in fear of rejection, a fear of not making the money, and all these different things, and… but people who keep going They’re able to fail, I say fail in the most like, you know, fail, but then And not in a way that, oh, I failed, but I got back up, and it was terrible, but I got over adversity. I’m not talking about that. I’m talking about they failed, and it was almost like, da-da! I failed. I mean, even if that’s just in your own mind Where you kind of look at this, that failure learning loop, all right, that failure learning loop is really, really important, alright? When I look back over my career, and I look at a number of things that I’ve done, and a number of things I’ve launched, and a number of things I’ve done And I, you know, I look at them and I’m like, well, that failed, that failed, that failed But I’m… well, first of all, I’m really, really happy with myself that I even done some of those things, because I’d rather do something and fail at it than just live this life of excuses and, oh, that was just too hard, so I’m not going to do it, all right? So And that’s number one. Number two, every single thing that I’ve done that’s failed, I’ve been able to evolve to the next thing. So I’ve been able to say, okay, well, that didn’t go that well. What did I learn? Where do I need to improve and get better? And I think that It takes a lot of self-confidence and you have to be in a point in your energy where you’re able to look at yourself and say I don’t do that very well, all right? And I need to get better at that. And even though that may feel like a failure, I’m up for learning and improving, and that constant and never ending learning But doing it in a way where I’m not beating myself up and I’m encouraging my clients, don’t beat yourself up here, but you’re like, okay, that didn’t go very well at all. Let me think about how I can improve and change and what kind of mechanisms or structures do I need to put into place So that I can do that. All right. So you know when I reviewed the last webinar that I did a few weeks ago, and I was like, Oh, Sam, that was I felt like I was little wooden, I wasn’t really read… I was reading a lot of my notes, and I was like, okay, so this time you’re going to do it with no notes, and this time you’re going to have no slides, no notes, and you’re going to really think about the areas where you want to improve. Now, you might look at me and say, well, you’re still not very good, but, you know, you good for you, or you might say, well, you know, actually, you’re quite good, you’re getting your message across. Actually, that doesn’t matter. What matters is, I feel like I’m improving, because as I improve, I get to make a bigger difference and a bigger contribution, okay? So It really is a loop moving from impossible dream to real change. It’s not this linear journey that the myth of A to B and overcome a few obstacles. It’s a loop of dream, fail, learn, action, dream, fail, learn, action, dream, fail, learn, action, dream, fail, action. And so
That dream element is not something you do at the start, and then forget about it, all right like it’s got to be something that you bring… remember I talked about being compelled, compelled towards, rather than pushed against. When we reconnect with it then it gives us like a charging up of energy and a new boost So let me explain that last part a little bit more here. So your impossible dream. Let’s just remember that again for you for a moment, all right? Can you have it front of your mind, or in your whole heart and body? Imagine it’s all around you Can you imagine for a moment, his imagination is a key, very underutilized skill Can you imagine you’re already there You’re already there. So step into it like you’re already there. It’s already done. You’re feeling the fruits of your labor You fought the fight. You’ve overcome the obstacles The plausible excuses are no longer a thing. You’re already there. So this is a very important technique if you want to use the word technique, to take yourself into it on a regular basis, maybe every morning, every morning or every evening before you go to sleep, and then your subconscious can work on it throughout the night, that you are already there. I’m already there. That feels So good. All right. I have a future vision of being on a stage and I have many, many women in front of me, mostly women and some amazing men, but mostly women who are there only because they want to contribute to social causes, social issues around the world, and they want to make a difference in the world, and they know that in order to do that, you need to look after themselves, and they’re there, and I can see everybody, and there’s just this amazing, amazing vibe and vibration of world change happening I can feel it, I’m already there. Okay, now, if that’s what I am being compelled towards, that’s what I want, but I don’t want that to stay a daydream in my mind What is Your strategy. What is the strategy for getting there? And I’m not talking about only the plan. Plans are important, but plans often have to change, but what is the strategy? The strategy of the tangible things that you need to do And the intangible things you need to do, how you need to be within yourself, the looking after yourself and your health part of the strategy What is the strategy that you need to employ so that that starts to happen? And for most of you, for many of you. This is going to involve a lot of editing A lot of fine tuning where I invite you to start looking at the path ahead of yourself and seeing all the things that you are involved in, and that you need to do, that you are doing, and where you need to stay on the path And where other things need to start or other people or other situations need to start falling off the path, all right? So there is a question here of focus and strategy and enjoyment, because when I start banding words around like strategy, people start yawning at me, but the strategy could be to enjoy everything you do so much more. To start to love life. To be as healthy as you can possibly be, to live a life of contribution until you’re 103, pop your clogs and be so delighted at what you are leaving behind and come back as a little black cat that just sleeps all day. Maybe that’s the strategy So there’s a number of things I’m talking about here, and I’m not expecting you to take them all away, but I want you to have some of them as food for thought. All right, the plausible excuse
The inner critic The inner champion. The compelling future. Maybe that’s what we’ll call it. We won’t call it vision. We’ll call it a future, a compelling possibility future for yourself and for those around you and for those that are important to you and for the areas that you are passionate and care about And then to start really contemplating the strategy. Now, you… some of you are further ahead that road than others, and others are starting out on a new road, and so there will be a new strategy to starting to achieve the things that you want to achieve, okay? So, being strategic is really smart. All right, like looking at things and saying, okay, what’s the network I want to build? What’s the financials I want to build? What’s the confidence I want to build And perhaps even having some separate areas of focus or separate pillars of focus that it’s time for you to really, really look at. All right. So the strategy is the strategic direction, if you like, to moving you into compelling future And understanding that we’ve talked about here that failing, or maybe we just call it learning that constant learning, but doing it with a sense of, sense of humor, doing it with a sense of humor Is really important. And to be able to do that with a sense of humor, you’re able to learn how to get that feedback review things yourself, make those changes, and it may start with giving yourself some rest an energy boost, some time to reflect and say, here are the things that are really key. Okay? Why didn’t I include today that I wanted to talk about? All right That was a lot to say. There’s a lot that came out of me in 51 minutes. What are you Thinking about right now. Other than your dinner or your lunch. What’s coming up for you in terms of your reflections or takeaways from today? The equality of impossible dreams is really important Please do not compare yourself to other people’s impossible dreams. Perhaps your impossible dream is to get a good night’s sleep. Perhaps your impossible dream is to end world poverty perhaps your impossible dream is to leave work on time. All are completely valid. I believe that if more women left work on time and got a good night’s sleep, we would end world poverty. So they are completely and utterly interconnected. Okay. So my challenge to you is to Consider Where are you waiting Not why are you waiting? But where are you waiting? What area of your dream or life or work are you waiting? You haven’t written that book yet, you haven’t applied for that role you haven’t stepped up to that new relationship. You haven’t focused on your health. You’ve been putting it off. Where are you waiting? Perhaps that area is an area for you to Really knuckle down and focus on now. And say, okay, I’m going to get serious here. And I’m not going to listen to my flaws boy excuses anymore And I’m going to focus on that area And perhaps a public declaration. So you can declare it in the chat now, or you could write it down, or you could say it to a
somebody else when this webinar is over that you are focused on, alright? You can put that as an area of focus for you, okay? So that would be my challenge for you to consider. Where are you waiting What is the area of focus for you to work on now. Okay. I would also like to say a very, very big thank you to everyone that wished me happy birthday after the last webinar. The best gift I got was all of these emails with people not only wishing me having a birthday, because that’s lovely, but telling me the things that you were committed to doing. So I appreciate that very much. And I’m going to do the same thing tomorrow. Obviously, it’s not my birthday again tomorrow, but we could imagine it is I’m going to send you a follow-up email And my challenge to you would be that you would reply and tell me what it is that you are going to do or you’re committed to doing as a result of this webinar. So I’m not talking about, I’ll try maybe we’ll see. It depends if I’ve got the time But an absolute commitment. All right, a commitment. So commitments are a lot more serious. So it may be that you need to scale down and have a bit more of a baby step so that you can actually really follow through on something rather than some big thing that you don’t think you’re going to be able to actually follow through on. All right So tomorrow you’re going to get an email from me. I’ll draft later today. I would love and I invite you to email me back and tell me what it is, because I will read it and I will remember it. And there’s something about the energy and psyche of that That mind, body, spirit element I talked about, where when you’ve said it out loud and you’ve written it down, and maybe you’ll come back to the email next month, and you’ll be like, I said I was going to do that, and I was going to do it. Because in 25 years, the thing that I love Most about my job is when I love it when I get emails, but I most love it at in-person events, conferences, Iran events, I run workshops I run when somebody comes up to me and they say the same thing. They say something like You won’t remember me, and most of the time I do They’ll say, you won’t remember me, but Two years ago, 10 years ago, six months ago, 20 years ago, I came to one of your events and I said I was going to do this, and here’s the book I’ve written Or here’s my business card for the business I have now, or here’s the thing I’m doing. Can I tell you about it? And it fills me with so much validation and joy that This stuff works. It works. It doesn’t work for everybody. You’ve got to have a certain way of thinking, all right? But it works for a lot of people. So put this stuff into practice. If you’re already putting these things into practice Deepen your practice. Get better at it. All right, like meditation. You can do meditation, but you can get better at meditation. If you already are an action taker, get even better at it. If you already public speak, become even more compelling. All right Get better at the things you’re already good at, or start fresh on some of the things that we’re talking about, okay? So Thank you. All right, I want this to be inspirational for you, but also igniting for you. So we start to really start to see a difference in how your world and the world operates, all right? If you would like to have more of this, go on to the aspirecompanies.com products page. All of these free Webinars I’ve done this year are on there. You can download them. You can share them with other great people that you think would benefit So that’s a way of deepening. I’m going to be starting up my podcast again. New and the Dr. Sam Collins podcast, new and evolved this week. And for those of you who would like and can and have the resources to come to California to spend some time with me. I will be running my leadership, professional development retreat in Sarah Retreat, which is a wonderful spiritual place in the mountains overlooking the Pacific Ocean In December. All right, that’s going to be a very, very special and unique time for a small group of people who want to Pioneer change in their next chapter and have that acceleration of that being over a few days. All right. So
consider that perhaps too, and I know some of you are already coming all on the website. Thank you very much Thank you much. much gratitude for being part of today, and for those of you in the future that are watching the recording, go do stuff, go do great things, keep doing what you’re doing, keep the faith Keep the trust And ultimately, remember your inner Valkyrie, all right? Because She knows she knows the score. Thank you very, very, very much. And be brave, be bold, be rebellious, do your thing and I’ll see you next time. Okay. Until then, bye-bye. You’ve got this.
